As the church-planting team traveled to an unreached town in the northern part of Russia, they believed they had the ideal plan. In spite of the strong polar winds, they were optimistic about receiving a warm welcome for their evangelism efforts. The concerts they had planned would give them opportunities to distribute copies of “The Story of Jesus” and invite people to the new church they were starting.

However, when the team arrived in the town, they were met with a cold reception from the authorities. The team was questioned at the police station for three days as their hopes for their carefully planned evangelism outreach began to fade into disappointment and fear.

Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and he will establish your plans.

—Proverbs 16:3

In spite of the obstacles, God continued His work. Courageous team members were able to quietly distribute copies of “The Story of Jesus” to the people of the town. And when the pastor of the new church held his first worship service, more than 20 people arrived, ready to hear more about Jesus and His love.

As in all things, God’s plan is best. This previously unreached town now has a small but growing church, and the good news of Jesus’ love continues to spread, touching hearts and changing lives for eternity.
