A Master’s Degree and a Children’s Book

Sudhir and Monica received their master’s degrees and were working at the same college when they met and fell in love. Even though Sudhir was a Christian and Monica a Hindu, they ignored the disapproval of their parents and were married.

Shortly after, at Sudhir’s prodding, they began attending a Christian church in Guntur, India. While Monica was determined to honor the beliefs of her Hindu religion, Sudhir did not give up on her.

One day their pastor came to visit but forgot his bag when he left their home. Monica noticed a big book in the bag. It was The Action Bible, a book for children, and certainly not for someone with a master’s degree.

But God uses what he will.

Monica couldn’t put it down. She read story after story about creation, about sin, about her sin…and she understood them all. When her pastor returned for his bag, Monica asked if she could keep The Action Bible.

“I found Christ through the stories in The Action Bible, Monica says. “It led me to the real truth.”

[Love] bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never fails.
— 1 Corinthians 13:7-8a (NKJV)

Prayer:

God, love is always the way, so I’m asking that you would cause my soul to burn with love for those who do not know you. I do not need to condemn, I only need to love—just as you have loved me.
